Hello again!

All grandchildren are special - some more than others because they have SPECIAL needs. Playing, reading, keeping active, having and making friends is all part of their life - which you can help them with to the best of their ability. Granny Look has been searching for some fun things and a few holiday ideas for you and your special grandchildren to do this summer.

LEGO, LOOK AND LEARN!

All children need funtime - lots more of this in school holidays! Take your grandchildren to play among the giant Lego at Legoland, Windsor. A GUIDE FOR GUESTS WITH DISABILITIES is available from www.legoland.co.uk Click on "Plan your Visit" and scroll along to Guests with Disabilities, to discover lots of information on the facilities they provide, as well as apply for your guide!

Especially designed for people with MULTIPLE LEARNING, COMPLEX DISABILITIES OR AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS, "The Whale's Tooth" is an inter-active, sensory play for over-11's. Get more details...... click on the What's on heading at www.unicorntheatre.com

Help your grandchildren learn about Roman times. A new exhibition at The British Museum "Hadrian : Empire & Conflict" starts on the 24th July and has SPECIAL OPENINGS FOR THE DIFFERENTLY-ABLED.
On the home page of www.britishmuseum.org/default.aspx go into the "Hadrian" box and under Visiting the Exhibition there's a sub-heading Access, which gives more detail about dates and facilities.

OUTDOORS, INDOORS AND BY THE SEASIDE

However impaired your grandchildren may be they are still children - and quality summer time is so important. Challenge their disability with outdoor adventure and take an accessible OUTDOOR ACTIVITY BREAK with www.calvert-trust.org.uk What a great way to let them know it's not what they can't do but what they can do that counts!

If one of your grandchildren is diff-abled with siblings who are not, planning a holiday or short break can be difficult. Granny Look might have found the answer - a holiday village in Ireland that works for the inclusion of abled and disabled together, by providing a wide range of CREATIVE, RECREATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY BASED PROGRAMMES. Self-catering chalets, Camper and Caravanning sites, Children's Play Areas and so much more. You'll find full details at www.sharevillage.org/
